OceanWise were awarded the contract to work on a unique project involving the historic and impressive HMS Warrior vessel. This iconic piece of British history is moored in Portsmouth as part of the National Museum of the Royal Navy. HMS Warrior is an “ironclad, 40-gun, steam powered frigate, built for the British Navy in 1859-1861″.
OceanWise are proudly working with a number of project partners including Waves Group Limited, Nortek, Gill instruments and RS Divers and installed a variety of environmental monitoring sensors in close proximity to HMS Warrior. These sensors collected real-time environmental data throughout March, April and May 2024.
The data being collected included wave height, direction and period, current speed and direction, wind speed and direction, air temperature and pressure.
The data from the equipment was publicly available during the project, so users could view it in real-time via our cloud-based data platform from ‘Port-Log‘. The dedicated webpage allowed users to view all the data, as it came in, in real-time, at any time during the project.
Once the project ended, the equipment was recovered and the data was thoroughly analysed by Waves Group.
We really enjoyed being part of this unique project and thank all those involved for their support in making it a great success.
